13C-labeled substrates: The substrate is a drink (solution) or meal administered to the patient before the test, after obtaining the patient`s baseline data. The substrate is marked with 13C, which is detectable in exhaled breath. The substrate is discharged in the patient`s breath at a rate that corresponds to the function of the tested organ, indicating the presence or severity of a suspected disorder. There is a different substrate for each specific disorder.
The Cannula: A single-use, disposable breathing cannula collects the patient`s breath during the test. Two types of cannulas were developed; one designed for a short test, the other for a long test. Longer test cannulas are designed with a filter line for the removal of accumulated humidity from exhaled breath.
The IDcheck™: The IDcheck™ ensures accuracy by continuously monitoring the system`s stability and sensitivity and by automatically performing real-time system corrections and calibrations.
