Dr. Uri Geiger (Chairman of the Board)
Dr. Geiger founded Exalenz and served as its CEO between 2006 and January 2009. He is the Chairman and founder of Accelmed, a leading medical device investment firm. Dr. Geiger is a serial entrepreneur who has successfully founded and sold three companies: Kirabo Inc. (sold to a Diamond Explorer), GalayOr Inc. (sold to MEMSCAP S.A.- Euronext: MEMS) and Tau Hedge Funds Management (partially sold to Migdal Capital Markets). Dr. Geiger has been involved in multiple investments in Israeli innovative medtech companies such as X-Technologies (acquired by Guidant), VisionSense, Medson (acquired by Imadent), and others. Dr. Geiger is an adjunct professor at Tel Aviv Recanati Business School, where he lectures on private equity and venture capital in the International Program. He is the author of the books "Startup Companies and Venture Capital" (Tel Aviv University Press, 2001) and "From Concept to Wall Street" (Financial Times - Prentice Hall, 2003).
Raffi Werner (CEO)
Mr. Werner has over 20 years of experience in the Medical Device arena. He joined Exalenz as a COO on 2010 after serving as CEO of ODF Medical Ltd., a developer of unique endoscopes based on Omni Direction Imaging and advanced Image Understanding, . On 2013, he was promoted to General Manager LTD. Previously, Mr. Werner served as COO of QuantomiX Ltd., a venture-backed Israeli startup company with patented technology in the field of Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM). Mr. Werner also served as the CEO of Lumenis Inc., a world leader in light-based medical devices, located in Boston. Prior to that, he was VP Operations for ESC Medical Systems Ltd. and General Manager for Laser Industrial Ltd. in Israel. Mr. Werner holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from the Kellogg-Recanati Executive MBA program of Tel Aviv University and Northwestern University.
Dudy Stolick (CFO)
Mr. Stolick is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over many years of experience in corporate financial management. He joined Exalenz after 5 years as CFO for Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB:BCLI) a leading developer of stem cell technologies to provide treatment for incurable neurodegenerative diseases. As part of his role in Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics Inc. Mr. Stolick managed the financial and business aspects and also was responsible for raising more than 8 million dollars in private placements. Prior to Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics Inc. Mr. Stolick worked 10 years as Corporate Controller for M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd. (Nasdaq: FLSH), where he had responsibility for the accounting, treasury management and financial activities of the company and its global subsidiaries. Prior to M-Systems, Mr. Stolick worked as deputy controller at Electronics Line Ltd., a company traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, and as an auditor in a large accounting firm. He earned his degree in Economics and Accounting from the Ben-Gurion University, Israel in 1991.
Prof. Yaron Ilan, M.D. (Medical Director)
Prof. Ilan is the former Chairman of the Israeli Association to the Study of the Liver. Professor Ilan is a graduate of the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School, Jerusalem. Following his graduation in 1984, he worked at the Hadassah Medical Center and was appointed Chief Physician of the Liver and Gastroenterology Units there in 1995. In 2001 he was appointed Director of the Department of Internal Medicine A. From 1995-1997, Prof. Ilan engaged in postgraduate studies as a Research Fellow attached to the Liver Research Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. During that time, he was also a Fellow at the Division of Liver Transplantation and Liver Unit at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. In 1998, he was appointed Professor of Medicine at Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Prof. Ilan has more than 170 peer -reviewed publications.
Dr. Susan Alpert, M.D., PhD (Executive VP, Regulatory )
Prior to joining Exalenz, Dr. Alpert was the principle of SFA Consulting LLC, where she focused on the strategies needed to place medical devices into the global market. In 2003, Dr. Alpert joined Medtronic, Inc., as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance and was Senior Vice President, Global Regulatory Affairs at her retirement in May 2011. Prior to joining Medtronic, Dr. Alpert served C.R. Bard, Inc., as Vice President of Regulatory Sciences. She also previously worked at the U.S. Food & Drug Administration where she held a variety of positions dealing with drugs, devices and radiological health, and foods. She is a microbiologist and pediatrician with a specialty in infectious diseases and has practical experience in laboratory research and clinical trials. Dr. Alpert holds an undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Columbia University and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Sciences from New York University. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami (Florida).
Gavin Doree (Vice President of Sales)
Prior to joining Exalenz, Mr. Doree served as the national director and the director of strategic accounts at Medivators Inc. (formerly Minntech Corporation), a leader in developing, manufacturing, and marketing medical devices, specializing in patient safety, infection prevention and asset management technologies. As the national director of sales for Medivators in 2012-13, Mr. Doree managed sales of $35M US and was part of a leadership responsible for $157M US sales. He is also the former West Region director of sales at Byrne Medical, Inc., where, in 2009 he grew business by 36% for a total sales figure of more than $7 million. He repeated this success in 2010, when he further grew business by 23% for a total sales figure of more than $13 million. Mr. Doree also had strong success as territory manager at Parks Medical Corporation, where he helped the company to increase sales to the millions. Before pursuing a career in the medical field, Mr. Doree worked as an educator and athletic director in the State of Washington. He holds a BA in political science from the University of Washington and a masters in teaching from Whitworth University.
Ofer Schlesinger (Vice President of Research & Development)
Mr. Schlesinger has over 20 years of experience in the Medical Device arena. He joined Exalenz in 2007 after serving as VP Products of Card Guard Ltd (SWX:LIFE) and lead several innovative projects in the Telemedicine devices (ECGs, Spiro-meters, Blood pressures) and supporting software platforms. Previously, Mr. Schlesinger served as R&D Project Manager at Bio-Rad Laboratories (NYSE:BIO) in the Clinical Diagnostics division developing applications and devices for Lab Auto-samplers. Mr. Schlesinger holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and an MBA from Tel Aviv University.
Eitan Blank (Vice President of Operations)
Mr. Blank joined Exalenz in 2007. He has over 15 years of international experience in capital equipment companies. Prior to joining Exalenz, Mr. Blank served as Director of Global Support Organization for Nova Measuring Instruments (NASDAQ: NVMI) a Semi-Conductors metrology equipment company, where he managed the company's Global Customer Support operations at major industry manufacturers. Mr. Blank holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from the Recanati Executive MBA program of Tel Aviv University.
